At Nexus Luxembourg’s second edition, Bert Verdonck joins the conversation to explore “Data Sharing in International Contexts.” With a strong focus on bridging public and private sectors through the Luxembourg National Data Service, Bert highlights the power of collaboration and digital infrastructure to enable secure, cross-border innovation. His vision reflects a practical yet forward-looking approach to how we manage data in an increasingly interconnected world.

What inspired you to join Nexus Luxembourg for its second edition?
The broad networking and knowledge sharing it allow, in the relevant domains for the Luxembourg National Data Service, combining private and public sectors, for Luxembourg, and for its international guests.
What’s one tech prediction for the future that sounds crazy, but you believe in?
My weekly load of administrative tasks, both for my job as well as for private, will reduce from >8 hours to <1 hour per week. Sounds crazy? I’d love it!
What’s one thing tech still hasn’t fixed that it should have by now?
Sending spreadsheets around by Email, for collaborating on financial accounts and budgets. And signing documents on paper, or with primitive, USA-dominated tools.
If AI could help with one everyday task, what should it be?
Compose my daily task list, compiled out of Email as well as various task management tools and chat channels, with automated prioritisation that follows my guidance, my preferences and my calendar.
