Sébastien Faye
Head of DISCO Research Group - Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST)
Sébastien Faye leads the Distributed & Intelligent Connectivity Research Group of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). His research is centered on wireless communication networks, with a strong emphasis on mobility systems and the future of connectivity technologies, including 5G, 6G, and beyond.
Early in his career, Sébastien specialized in wireless sensors and connected mobility, addressing key challenges in network planning, design, and performance optimization. This foundation paved the way for his continued contributions to next-generation mobile network research. Over time, he has consolidated deep expertise in the field, evolving his focus toward the development of intelligent, distributed, and AI-driven connectivity solutions.
Under his leadership, the Distributed & Intelligent Connectivity Research Group advances research at the intersection of communication, computation, and artificial intelligence. The group's mission is to develop scalable systems that enable low-latency, resilient services across the mobile-edge-cloud continuum. These technologies support transformative applications in mobility, healthcare, and urban infrastructure.
Sébastien has a track record of securing and managing competitive research funding. He has led more than 15 national and European RDI projects, including 6G-TWIN (Horizon Europe/SNS JU), 5G-CriCo, 5G-META, and OPTIWAVE (FNR), attracting over €9 million in funding. He is also the author of approximately 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
