Francesco Ferrero is head of the Flagship Initiative on Artificial Intelligence and the Human-Centred AI, Data and Software Research Unit at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). The AI Flagship Initiative is intended to be a cornerstone of Luxembourg's AI strategy, ensuring that the country not only keeps pace with global AI developments, but also positions itself as a leader in the deployment of ethical, transparent and impactful AI solutions.

Francesco started his R&D career in 2005 at Istituto Superiore Mario Boella, an Italian RTO, and has since been active in the design, execution and management of applied research, development and technology projects in the IT field. For many years he has been recognised as an international expert in R&D and Smart Cities and Smart Mobility, and is the editor of a major research handbook in this field. He currently sits on the board of ICT Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Media & Digital Design Centre.
