Christos Ampatzis is a Policy Officer in the Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS) of the European Commission. He works on EU Space Research & Innovation coordination, and leads activities on In-Space Operations and Services and digitalisation of space systems.

He was the Head of Sector Space Technologies at the European Health and Digital Executive Agency managing EU-funded space projects. He holds a PhD in Robotics and AI and was a Research Fellow at the European Space Agency’s Advanced Concepts Team.
