Prof. Dr. Philippe Hiligsmann
Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs - University of Luxembourg
Philippe Hiligsmann has been Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs since November 2024 at the University of Luxembourg. The objectives he has set himself during his mandate as Vice-Rector are to drive quality and innovation in learning and teaching through a variety of initiatives, among others engaging faculty and students in strategic initiatives that promote digitally enhanced and competency-driven learning and teaching, promoting student life and sponsoring projects that contribute to a vibrant academic community at the University of Luxembourg.
Before joining the University of Luxembourg, he was successively Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Arts and Letters (2012-2018) and Vice-Rector for Student Affairs at UCLouvain (2019-2024). His research interests include contrastive linguistics and second language teaching and learning, in particular Dutch as a second language, and multilingualism in general.
